DMU KTP Video Production

Rhianna and Darsh (Knowledge Transfer Officers at DMU) wanted to identify the biggest opportunity for increasing the number of KTP enquiries. We began with a consultation to identify the gaps and how we could find clever ways to increase the number of enquiries. As a result we identified the following challenges:

Challenges Towards Business Outreach:

  • Physically they could only approach a limited number of people
  • Potential leads were slipping away as they weren’t front of mind
  • Businesses didn’t identify that a KTP was for them, even though it was
  • They see a KTP as a time constraint rather than a time saver.
  • People they had spoken with weren’t effectively communicating the benefits of a KTP, so the project didn’t go any further.

Academic Challenges Knowledge Transfer Officer Darsh Was Seeing:

  • Academics already have time pressure of teaching and research
  • Not enough confidence to give all the information to a business
  • Don’t feel like they have the relationships
  • Don’t realise it can support their real-world impact
  • Don’t have enough knowledge of the KTP process

Style:

Live Action and Animation

Number of crew:

2

Number of videos:

7

As a result of the initial consultation, we identified that we could maximise the value and support their challenges even further by creating a main video, which could be split into 6 smaller videos, that could be used in a variety of ways.

Primary: Businesses that could benefit from working alongside the university on a KTP

Secondary: Academics, as a resource to share with businesses.

“The aftercare support, the constant contact over email, making people feel comfortable, knowing which angles to take, it just takes all that burden off you, so I’d highly recommend working with Tale Production.
